In all my years of traveling I have heard some pretty crazy stories from back home, but this one takes the cake. This morning I woke up to (literally) 600 messages (from friends and family) and a link to a news article with this title:
Manchester City supporter pretends to be a steward to get Kevin de Bruyne’s shirt after Monaco win… then gets chased off the pitch.
As always, it turns out that The Sun are a bunch sensationalist rats. He wasn’t pretending to be a steward, he had no real agenda other than to have a little bit of fun.
In this instance he was given a shirt (by Kevin) and was then tackled to the ground by staff.
He was cautioned by the police and given a slap on the wrist.
I don’t usually condone these things (and it’s not my proudest moment) but my brother has a wonderful sense of humor. If you look at this video you’ll see that Kevin de Bruyne (probably) agrees.
Luckily, everyone was fine (it happened at the end of the match). My brother got a football shirt, a hug and (some weird articles written about him) out of it.
As they say in Ireland “IT’S ALL FOR BANTS!”
*NB The Sun have changed the title of the article and issued an apology for the mistake. This happened after the blog was published.
